“My student-athlete experience here at Stanford has been challenging at times, but it has been extremely rewarding all the same. What I did not realize was how many advisors, staff members, coaches, and others would be available to provide support throughout my time here. The student-athlete academic advisors have been a tremendous support when balancing both my academics and athletics. It isn’t easy trying to figure out a schedule to work with practice, travel, and academic demands, and having a partner to aid in finding solutions to these challenges makes all the difference. The student-athlete experience at Stanford is not just about striving for the next level of success on the field, but preparing for a career off the field as well. A Stanford education makes an impact on your life while on campus as well as for decades to come.

Stanford Athletics donors have made it possible for me and my teammates to push ourselves both in the classroom and on the field without having to sacrifice either one. For as long as I can remember, I dreamed of one day wearing the Stanford jersey. Now that I am, I will never take it for granted and will continue working hard to make a difference. We want to be at our best, to represent our team, our program, and the Stanford Athletics family. We hope to make you proud!”

“My own student-athlete experience at Stanford was truly foundational to my life and I am forever grateful for that opportunity. I learned skills that transcend athletics and apply to all aspects of my life. I learned how to be a teammate, to collaborate, to motivate, to perform at a high level through adverse circumstances, and most importantly, how to grow from mistakes. It is in this context that I felt so fortunate and humbled to return to Stanford as a coach a decade ago. I was motivated to support young and accomplished people through the inevitable ups, downs, joys, and tribulations that accompany the student-athlete experience. After ten years, I remain motivated by that same purpose today.

Stanford has long distinguished itself by excelling athletically while maintaining the highest academic standard. As the college sports landscape evolves in unprecedented ways, we are more committed than ever to maintaining our tradition of academic and athletic excellence. With determination, creativity, and the support of our Stanford Athletics community, including donors like you, we will continue to provide the best possible student-athlete experience to those who compete for the Cardinal!”

“When I look back and reflect on my decision to attend Stanford, I know I was exactly where I was supposed to be. My experience was amazing and humbling during a very complicated time in my life. I competed in the Olympic games in between my sophomore and junior year and my experience as a Stanford student-athlete kept me grounded and focused. Even though swimming is an individual sport, I found being a member of the Stanford women’s swimming and diving program was essential to my success on the Olympic stage.

I am so grateful for my athletic scholarship, without which I would not have been able to attend Stanford. I want to thank Stanford Athletics donors for believing in me and for making it possible for me to focus on my goal and dream of becoming an Olympic gold medalist and NCAA Champion! Your support made a huge difference in my life. As a former student-athlete, I want to help make another young person’s dreams come true by giving back to Stanford Athletics. Making a gift on Stanford Athletics Giving Day is a great way to stay connected with our community and support our amazing next generation of athletes and leaders!”
