Offering Community and Balance

These stories are written by students and highlight how your gifts through The Stanford Fund shape their experience at Stanford.

I would like to extend my warmest thank you to all the donors for their generosity and for paving the road to my future. My student group, the Stanford Vietnamese Student Association, is one of the primary reasons I applied to Stanford.

As a high schooler, I attended an overnight conference on Stanford's campus for students from under-resourced schools led by the Stanford Vietnamese Student Association. I met amazing, life-long friends who taught me about life at Stanford and later helped me apply to college.

Jeffrey YuI now host and mentor at the same conference. Seeing one of the high schoolers we work with finish school, apply to Stanford, and get in has truly been one of the most rewarding experiences of my time here.

The Stanford Vietnamese Student Association has become a home and a support network that helps me stay afloat in a place where academics and career stress can easily knock your life off balance. We take the same difficult classes, navigate the same career indecision, and work hard together to put on big events. Like the Buddhist teaching of universal suffering, it is when we struggle together that we learn and bond the most. It's also a lot of fun!

Giving back to the communities you come from is a feeling like no other. It keeps you grounded, reminds you of your experiences, and reinforces the unique perspective you bring to Stanford. Thank you so much for making my education possible and for giving back to the Stanford community through The Stanford Fund!
